Lighthouse keeper’s Daydream

Lighthouse keeper’s Daydream
Allan Lenard Ocampo

I imagined you and me
Climbing on the spiral stairway
Of this ancient tower.
I could hear the beating
Of our hearts, resonating
In every step
As we rushed to reach
The watch room.
For the two of us both loved to gaze
The waning moonlight,
The city lights,
And the surging waves.
And from this overlooking view,
We stood still holding hands
Our eyes were shimmering
Our thoughts were wondering,
Two innocent hearts
Set free on this solitary tower
As we traversed
The deepest sea of emotions
As if this moment of ours
Will last in eternity
But to my surprise, as I opened my eyes
I found myself alone on this lonely tower
Staring upon the shroud of grey clouds
Beneath the night-sky,

Suddenly, the rain poured down…

I switched on the lighthouse lantern
To illuminate my vanishing daydream.
