Espada releases juvenile non-fiction book
Author Dennis Espada released this October a volume of the juvenile non-fiction book series titled Dumdumon 2. “Dumdumon” is a Hiligaynon word which means “remember”.
The 125-page book is a compilation of 48 narrative essays in Filipino that highlights the aspirations and hesitations in life of an introvert teenager during the '90s. Being an introvert is not a mental disease, but rather a personality type. Such misunderstanding contributes to teenage life as a stage of confusion about life and growing up. The contents are real issues and detailed events derived from actual documents, conversations and, most of all, personal experiences.
“Sometimes they are branded as nerds, geeks, weird, or anti-social, and usually victimized by bullies, but the truth is they are loving and enjoys to be with people,” the author said. “They are self-reliant, drawing strength from their own wisdom and emotions. They are intuitive and perceptive, thinking first before giving an answer or reaction. They are more attracted to intellectual work rather than the opposite sex.”
The book is independently self-published and currently available in the following selected bookstores in Metro Manila:
> Bookay-Ukay at #55 Maginhawa Street, UP Village, Quezon City
> Popular Bookstore at 305 Tomas Morato Avenue, Quezon City (call 372-2162)
