Mark Angeles,
author of self-published books Patikim
and Emotero, comes back with another
thought-provoking title: Threesome.
His new poetry
book leads us deeper into the lives of commonplace lovers. But nothing is mundane.
And no word is suppressed. In this book, someone thinks he is an umbrella,
another thinks his heart is filled with birds. Lovers crash to their death,
finds their partner sleeping like a dead dog or being swallowed by the bathroom
sink.
Threesome is a ménage à trois of the author’s poems in English, Filipino, and
translations of his choice notorious love poems by Pablo Neruda, Constantine P. Cavafy, and Francesca Beard among others. This book also essays his thoughts on translation
and our languages.
